(06 05 16) Loop Access Points Examined

Angela Croiser, NAN’s newly appointed IT technician will be working with the team to support the NAN network expansion. The team visited the King’s Stereo and Academy Towers sites to view the access points and establish testing sites. Superior Wireless will schedule dates for testing and connecting clients in the next weeks. NAN representatives will be contacting clients to present the expansion and arrange for installation visits.

(06 05 16) Peering with the NOSM Router

Representatives from FedNor, NOSM, North Network and K-Net met to discuss the structure and installation of a new router and bridge to support NOSM activity. Industry Canada’s FedNor sponsored the project which initially involved a router shared by NOSM, and LU now has a dedicated router for NOSM traffic and the Thunder Bay Meet-me switch at the LU POP. The peering will support health applications connecting Aboriginal organizations with Northern Communities. .

The KORI team visited 216 S. Algoma St. to identify the requirements for joining the new KORI Office to the Meet Me Network. The building will be connected via a radio hop from the Superior Wireless Waverly Towers location. The inside of the building will also have to be wired to meet KORI's needs. 

(06 03 29) Superior Wireless tests the client units

Superior Wireless tested the client units to ensure the equipment will suit the needs of clients. The radios were tested to ensure they supported Quality of Service (QOS) by running maximum data traffic and then requesting a video conference. The radios responded well by slowing data traffic and giving priority to the video, ensuring QOS.

Brian Beaton, K-Net's coordinator traveled to Thunder Bay to meet with current and future Meet-Me partners. FedNor's Carl Seibel was instrumental in ensuring that the project was approved.
