(06 11 08) Fibre Link Between LU and Hospital Completed

A link has been completed between LU and the Hospital. John Barro of the Hospital's It department is anxious to connect the Molecular Medicine Research Centre (MMRC) which is a joint venture between LU, the hospital, and Sunnybrook & Women's Hospital. The purpose is to establish cancer and cardiac research among building a knowledge based economy in Northwestern Ontario. The meet-me location has opened the potential for information sharing for this high-tech industry of research. The first application will be the convergence of voice and data with the expansion of VoIP telephones from LU extending to MMRC along with IP based video conferencing.
