MPP gets briefing on KO Telehealth Health

((07 05 07) Michael Gravelle, MPP, (Thunder Bay-Superior North)
promised to champion KO Telehealth at Queen's Park following a briefing
by the KO Telehealth team and other guests during a video conference
that linked Thunder Bay, Balmertown, Toronto and Fort Hope First
Nation... Gravelle learned about the scope of KO Telehealth activities
and its partnerships with First Nations communities and the Ontario
Telemedicine Network (OTN)... Donna Williams, the manager of KO
Telehealth, provided an overview of its operations and information
about sustainability... Peggy Sugarhead, the site facilitator (CTC) in
Fort Hope provided the Member with a live demonstration of
telehealth... Dr. Ed Brown, the head of OTN, told the MPP that KO
Telehealth was "world class" and the best practice of how telemedicine
should be delivered with First Nations communities... He told Gravelle
that KO Telehealth is a good investment for the province to promote
shorter hospital wait times and better access to health care for First
Nations and other Aboriginal peoples... Gravelle will be invited to
participate in other briefings on other activities of Keewaytinook
Okimakanak in areas of provincial concern such as education and
economic development...
