Lands and Resources Update 2012-13

KO Lands and Resources is a program that support KO partner First Nation planning through training, research and enhanced projects. Core planning occurs in the First Nation and is governed by a government-to-government relationship with the Ministry of Natural Resources. A network of planners and technicians meet regularily through training and informaiton workshops and make up the KO Lands and Resources Wroking Group that provides their leadership with the infomation they need to make decisions. Each community has a lands and resources office with staff that is able to advance community priorities and deal with requests from government and industry.

Training and workshops has included: GIS, Mapping, Conducting Interviews, Project Management and Reporting, Youth Engagement, Archaeology and Culture, Source Water, Minerals, Forestry, Economic Development, Governance, etc. The training schedule is being developed for 2012-13 that focusses on building community capcity with peer support and includes partnerships with government and industry.
