Happy New Year from KORI

(08 01 07) Another new year and more and more activities to watch for from KORI... This year the KORI staff have been directed to document their activities in a format easy for the Chiefs, the communities and the other KO staffers to review... Each KORI staffer will take a few minutes each day and share their work with you... I encourage you to visit their pages...

Watch for a number of projects such as the Smoking Cessessation Project that KORI has partnered with KO Health and NOSM... Other projects include: the UN-sponsored First Nations management and control of natural resources forum, the KiHS evaluation with Terry Anderson of Athabasca University and the SSHRC research project with our partners at the Lakehead University Faculty of Education... as well as the Safer Community Initiative and the Breast Cancer Awareness project to name only a few...

KORI continues to support the activities of KO's other departments such as Public Works (the Water Treatment Operators Training), KiHS, Health and KOTM... KORI continues to act as the project manager for the KOTM's Change Management Project... KORI and KOTM will be hosting a meeting of the Change Management Project Advisory Committee on Thursday morning... KORI will be working with KOTM to bring various health care officials to Fort Severn to witness first hand how telemedicine functions at the community level...

KORI continues to work with Susan O'Donnell of the NRC and her team on the VideoCom research project on the use and adaptation of IP videoconferencing at the community level...

Tomorrow, I'm off to Sioux Lookout to work with Brian Beaton and the K-Net team on a comprehensive evaluation of the use of telecommunications not only in Ontario's far north but in Manitoba and Quebec...
